About the Executive Chef

Executive Chef: Orazio Parisi

The Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles and its Brasserie, Paparazzi and extremely talented banquet department is operated by our very talented management team and lead from a culinary standpoint by our outstanding Executive Chef, Mr. Orazio Parisi. "Chef Orazio" is supported in his culinary pursuits by our Director of Food and Beverage, Mark Eberwein and excellence driven General Manager, Michael E. Washington.

Guided by this outstanding leadership team, we have created a reputation for great food on Century Boulevard and take pride in the fact that our well-travelled clientele are able to leave with great memories of the delectable delicacies enjoyed during their stay.

Executive Chef Orazio Parisi was born in Sicily in a small town called Avola, famous for its grapes which produce the unique Nero d'Avola wine. He grew up with a deep love for cuisine, and what began as a hobby soon turned into a career.

Chef Parisi came to California in 2001 to follow his dream of becoming an Executive Chef in the capital of the multi-ethnic cuisine; the city of Los Angeles, where his wife was born. Bringing his classic Sicilian "trattoria" background to Pasadena, he attended the acclaimed California School of Culinary Arts, studying under renowned chefs and graduating their Cordon Bleu program with highest honors. He went on to work for prominent restaurants such as McCormick & Schmick's, La Terza and Il Fornaio before to join the Millennium Biltmore Hotel as Executive Sous Chef and the Los Angeles Marriott Downtown as Executive Chef, moving up to his current position at the Sheraton Gateway.

Chef Parisi's creative southern Italian cooking is primarily influenced by the quality of the ingredients, always adjusting his dishes around freshness and seasonality. If asked, he will maintain that even with his vast experience and a distinguished education, his best mentor will always be his mom.
