About the Executive Chef

Executive Chef: Dale Hart

The Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles and its Brasserie, Paparazzi and extremely talented banquet department is operated by our very talented management team and lead from a culinary standpoint by our outstanding Executive Chef, Mr. Dale Hart. "Chef Dale" is supported in his culinary pursuits by our Director of Food and Beverage, Mark Eberwein and excellence driven General Manager, Michael E. Washington.

Guided by this outstanding leadership team, we have created a reputation for great food on Century Boulevard and take pride in the fact that our well-travelled clientele are able to leave with great memories of the delectable delicacies enjoyed during their stay. As Chef Dale points-out, "We do an outstanding job in ensuring extremely high standards in our restaurants and banquet facilities. We are not just a hotel restaurant... we are a restaurant in an upscale hotel."

"One very special feature of our banquet service is our ability to design any style menu based on the desires of our clients", relates Hart. Recently we created a shrimp and lobster salad with citrus mascarpone, topped with beluga caviar and a sea urchin cream sauce. Our General Manager, Michael Washington, loves food and I love to cook. He's very supportive of my creative process and allows me and my team tremendous freedom in the kitchen. He knows we're accustomed to taking it to the next level and helps guide us in that direction. "

Chef Dale adds, "We can also easily accommodate virtually any special group request by creating extremely specialized menus. For example, we have entertained group requests for a vegan menu over a 10-day period (400 people for breakfast, lunch and dinner); created a variety of ethnic menus from India to China; and developed complete menus for kosher prepared meals. "
Chef Dale has won many awards and accolades for his impressive culinary skills. Most recently, he received the "Master of Taste Medal", awarded by a select group of chefs who visit hotels all over the region. Not only were they impressed with Chef Dale's culinary expertise, but his charm and personal touch were also well noted. Other awards he has received include the prestigious National Culinary of Excellence Medallion by the Los Angeles Chefs Committee, which is hosted regularly in Beverly Hills. This medallion was given in recognition of his creative talents and outstanding guest service skills. Chef Dale's extensive background also includes leading some of the finest restaurants and hotels in Atlanta and other parts of the south.

His outstanding career has also included a nomination as a "Champion of Chefs" which allowed him the pleasure of creating a special epicurean meal for our First Lady and President George W. Bush, during their stay in Northern California.
Chef Dale states he believes in "going for the gold", which was reflected in his participation as a 1996 Culinary Olympic Team Member. He was the opening chef during the Opening Ceremonies at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
All this said, if you're in the mood for some great food, we've got just the chef for you!
